It is fact that the numbers of children and families affected by HIV/Aids is on the increase in this country. South London has some of the most alarming figures, but it is a problem throughout the country.

PPC has worked quietly and effectively with these families for many years, working with more than a 100 families a year

PPC’s services include the following:

  • A home-based family support service that provides stimulation and respite for children and advice, support and respite for parents
  • Operational crèches for the users of the support groups run by other HIV organisations
  • Group activities for children infected or affected by HIV and AIDS including a monthly Saturday club.
  • Therapeutic week end and holiday respite for children

We work with a range of partner statutory and voluntary sector organisations to ensure that children and families receive a planned co-ordinated service that has a long-lasting and measurable impact on their health and well-being.

“I have two children my youngest is HIV positive. Receiving a service from PPC has changed the whole family, I am able to cope better with my medication and in administering medication to my child, I now have time for some respite which is very important for me, I am more able to cope with the children and my HIV diagnosis.

Thanks to PPC I am now able to attend a college course. The children have access to lots of play facilities which they really enjoy, we often wish for more time with PPC’s Family Support Workers.”
