PPC services, being child-focussed, work by addressing the needs of the family as well as a whole, including parents needs. Services are effective because of our understanding that a child’s needs are best met through working with, not against, the child’s family and also that HIV can be just one of a complex range of issues impacting on children, young people and their families. PPC’s main services include the following:
- A home-based family support service that provides stimulation and respite for children, which focus on confidence building and developmental opportunities as well as advice, support and respite for parents
- Operational crèches for the users of the support group run by other organisations
- Group activities for children infected or affected by HIV and AIDS including a monthly saturday club, and summer scheme
- Fortnightly Crèche and drop-in for Southwark families
- Children’s peer support and participation
- Parenting support Group
- Fathers support worker

“Overall, what we really like about PPC is that they understand and support people who are close to someone who is HIV positive, and this is fairly unique. This has helped both of us to continue to enjoy and appreciate our lives despite living with HIV.”
